Lilith, '67 C10 Flatbed

It's a '67 C10 Custom Flatbed. 327 w/ 3 spd floor shift. Lilith is her name.

So far I've put in headlights, mirror reflective surface, and wiring for tail/brake lights. I test drove and bought it during the day so I didn't think to check the lights haha.

I just ordered a bunch of stuff for it so I'm feeling pretty antsy. The Early Classics Enterprises disc brakes 2 1/2" drop spindle kit is in the mail. It didn't come with front inner fenders, an air cleaner, or a key for the doors so I bought that stuff. A few other small parts also.

My future wishlist/paycheck sink:
5 speed Tremec TKO
New coat of flat black paint
tilt steering+3 spoke circular holes steering wheel
Raise flatbed and put on taller wider back tires/wheels
More Torque, either top end kit or full rebuild
suspension updgrades
rear fuel tank
lots of small stuff and sure to find more all the time

PICS!

I'll try to remember to take pics, much easier now that my phone is now a nice camera. I won't be able to work on it for about a week and a half so expect some more pics after that.

flatbed looks great, will it be a 6 wheeler or just a 4 wheeler? Looks like a good truck to start with.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to keep it a 4 wheeler but I do plan to put wider wheels and tires in the back. 1 week until I get to put all the new stuff on, can't wait.

Thx slomotion. The dog is a brown lab named Bode, around 100 lbs. He's a champion of dogs IMO!

Re: Lilith, '67 C10 Flatbed

I live 2.5 hours from my truck so I can only work on it on the weekends. When I was removing the stock spindles I ripped a lower ball joint boot. Nobody stocked it in town so I plan to get the brakes finished this weekend. Nobody sells just the boot so I had to order lower ball joint assemblies. Hopefully my neighbor has a ball joint press so I can put in the new ones even though the current ones are fine.
I'm in the process of mudding and taping my parents garage so every work surface has stuff piled on it. I'm glad I have a flatbed. All my parts are laid out on it.

On a side note I bought myself a new daily driver a few days ago. Subaru Impreza RS 5 speed. It's the first non american car I've ever had (my 7th car). I was looking for an affordable 4wd sports car and america doesn't make one. All independent suspension, horizontal engine with equal length front drive shafts. It's severely lacking in the V8 department though.

I cruised at 70 down a loose gravel road for miles and took some on/off ramps at over 60 on the drive home after I bought it. This thing is fun to drive. It reminds me of the Fiero GT I used to have. I'm gonna put some snow tires on it and shred this winter.

Re: Lilith, '67 C10 Flatbed

The new stance looks badass. I ended up breaking the front brake lines trying to get them apart so I had to put in new brake lines. The part of the spindle the tie rod hooks is tight againt the rim so a little grinding and some spacers should do the trick. I found some 1/4" spacers for $7 so they are in the mail. I put on a cool air cleaner too. Now I just need some wider tires for the back. I'm leaning toward some M/T 295/55-15s on some 10 wide wheels. Those are quite a bit shorter that whats on there so I'm not sure if it will look quite right. Any opinions on shorter wider back tires?

I really like your truck!

Building a 66 that I am turning into a flatbed. Trying to figure out how to drop the back and still have enough travel so the tires don't rub with weight on it.

Also came up with a way to put the wood in the bed with no fasterners showing.

Re: Lilith, '67 C10 Flatbed

Thanks! It rubs sometimes with no weight on the back so the flatbed isn't very useful at the moment. I think I might raise it a bit and put airbags in the back so I can just air them up when I'm hauling stuff.

Got any pics of your 66 dantimdad?

Re: Lilith, '67 C10 Flatbed

The motor is making a number of bad sounds. I looked up the casting number and it's a 305 from a late 70s Chevy. The seller told me it was a 327 haha. So I need a new motor. I want a small block chevy. I'm inexperienced when it comes to old cars but everything I've done so far has turned out great. I'm semi comfortable building a motor. I'm wondering if you guys have any tips on getting a new motor in my truck without breaking the bank. I've never done an engine swap but I will be doing this one. I figure I can re use things like the distributor.

The new ECE brakes work great btw.

I just bought a motor on craigslist. :metal: 350 crate motor with hooker headers.

I took a video of it running on the stand too. http://youtu.be/mYZDqUNZnvY

Also I did a photoshop of the flatbed raised a bit. I think it looks way better and gives me some needed tire clearance.
