When is a good time?

When is it a good time to stop buying "parts" and start working on the truck? For 3 months I been hoarding parts, and haven't touched the truck. I have a problem.

That's my problem I have bought every piece of the puzzle to convert the 292 4 speed to a 327 with a turbo350. Now I have to do the hard part and actually get the engine rebuilt....no wait then I have to install it

Plus I can't seem to stop buying off the parts board. To many good deals.

My name is Jimmy ..... I am a parts addict !!! I've been buying parts for 3 years . I probably have enough parts to build 3 trucks . If I worked on my truck as hard as I work on trying to find parts , I would have 3 finished trucks ! You are NOT alone .

It's all progress, buying parts or working on the truck. It's better to have parts for when you have time to work on it than to have time to work on it and no parts.

I't only a problem when you buy parts you already purchased, but forgot you had them!

Re: When is a good time?

It depends on where your project is going to me. My '70 is my daily driver, I've been buying parts for the past few months since I got the truck, but I work on cars all day every day, just kinda burned out by the time I get home, AND almost all my tools are at work. I've bought more speed parts than anything, and I swear, one of these days, I'll actually get the intake/carb, shift kit, headers etc... on this thing. Drop kit is coming in a check or two, I have a feeling I'm just going to let everything stack up till I have a nice weekend off, and end up with a louder, lower, faster drive to work on the following Monday.

My truck isn't, and never will be a restoration. If I was restoring I'd be more inclined to tear the truck down and buy say, all my suspension and chassis components and start on that, then powertrain, then body, then interior, working and buying as I went.
