Late model air

If I decide that I want to modify a late model in dash A/C unit and put it in my 1970 pick-up what model vehicle should I use as the donor? I want the best a/c I can get that will fit under there. And before you suggest the kits, don't bother... I know about them, but I'm looking to save some money. So that is why I am exploring the possibility of a late model setup.

I put an A/C unit from a 90 chevy into my 69. It was A LOT of work, but other than the cost to charge it up and then a new compressor and drier, it was free (so in reality it cost me about $300)

I had to move the firewall out ~2", trim the bottom of the dash, and modify the diverter box to get it to work.

Check this out:

This is basically the setup that I'd like to copy when it finally comes time to install a working A/C on my truck.

I need more pictures. I like the digital thermostat. And if there are any pics of the truck with the 1990 A/C I would like to see that too. If you've never taken any please take some. Dragonwrecker and I are not the only people on this forum that would like to know how to do this.

You should PM or email RichardJ, the member who actually made the original post. I just bookmarked it for reference when I get around to installing an A/C.
