2009 Silverado 1500 5.3 whining transmission
 

Hey all....I have a 09 Silverado that has about 80k miles on it. Recently the trans has started whining. Has anyone else had this problem? My truck is still under warranty, so I plan on taking it in this weekend.

I've done some Googling...and some are saying it may be a bad torque converter?

Check the transmission fluid FIRST! Your truck takes Dexron VI (6).
Do Not take your truck in with low fluid level.....The repair will be on YOU if you do.

What transmission do you have? 4 or 6 speed auto.

I have the 4 speed automatic in my truck. I had the dealership change the fluid at 50,000 miles I think. I haven't touched or added fluid. I will check the level tomorrow morning before I bring it in. Truck has 78,000 on it now.

Well, just took her in to Chevy to check it out. Turns out it wasn't the transmission. It was the water pump. All replaced under warranty! Shes good as new now.
