Please Help multiple wiring questions

Thanks for any help I can get I think I am figuring most of this out with diagrams and searches but have the following questions still.
Background: Re-wiring '66 C20 292 w/700r4. I'm going to list the questions on separate posts starting with:

Washer/Wiper combo wiring.....Does this look right?

These two wires go to the brake switch. Does it matter which one goes on which terminal? I'm thinking probably not.

Does not matter which wire goes where on the brake light switch. Orage is battery power, the white goes to the turn signal switch.

The old harness had no connector for these wires going through the floorboard. They go to my transmission I think I need to attach it to this connector on the harness since the colors match and it is the right location?

Single speed wipers?
Yellow should be 12V "key on power"
light blue for low speed - from switch
Dk blue is washer - from switch
Black to body ground

will try to post a copy of my diagram

Those most likely were the old back up light wires that would have connected at the trans. If you have a 700R4 trans now, there won't be a place to connect them.

Hmmmm. They are still connected to the trans.

That is a nuetral safety or clutch interlock connector. IF you have a manual trans, there would be a switch similiar to a brake light switch mounted on the clutch pedal, you'd connect these to(after removing the jumper) Starter would then only engage with clutch depressed. With an auto trans, if you have an auto steering column, there is a switch located on top if the column, just before the firewall. it will have two terminals flat, side by side(for reverse lights-would connect to those two green wires pictured earlier) and two terminals side by side parralel- the purple wires connect there, and starter will only engage in Park or Nuetral.

Okay the first one is one of the wires looks like only one of the two coming through the floorboard were used? (sorry I think the pic is upside down) The second pic is my floor shifter. It has two wires that were spliced into my ignition. I am thinking this is a safety switch so i can't start in gear. Is this the best way to wire this?

Wait so can I splice the wires coming off my floor shifter to this instead of splicing into the ignition?

That single wire coming off the trans needs to be connected to some sort of trans soleniod (lock up) control.
Painless wiring,Ron Francis, and several others, even Jeg's and Summit, I believe, sell kits for non computer controlled engines using a 700R4. You cannot simply connect to 12V power. Without it, you will not have final lockup of the trans. Also, VERY critical- you HAVE to connect the throttle valve cable to the carb. It IS NOT a detent or kickdown cable. If not connected and adjusted properly, you will destroy the trans. Maybe this is already done, you hadn't mentioned if it was or not.

To answer your other ?? yes connect the two wires from your shifter, to the purple wires of your harness(after removing the jumper. That should give you a neutral safety.

Re: Please Help multiple wiring questions

I should have stated the trans was professionally installed and has a properly adjusted TV cable to the carb. So are you saying the wire to my trans is straight power but I need to do more than this to have it work to it's full potential?

How was it connected before? Do you have any informatio about the install of the trans, like what solenoid kit was used, etc?
You'll need to know what you have before you can install/connect it.
What wiring harness are you using? Does it have any instructions/diagrams with it?

Its been a while since I put a 700 r4 in but I think I had to run a wire off my brake pedal to take the trans out of 4th lock up. it was a 2 way switch. one way was for brake light other was to tranny.

First off, thanks for the help! I do not know the kit he used and my harness came from Classic Chevy parts but was made by American Autowire. It came with no instructions I can look on my build sheet for the trans and search American Autowires online install instructions with my harness part number. Also see my answer below.

I remember him telling me about this switch that he installed. Also, The wires that I'm trying to figure out are very old. They were not newly installed with the trans. They look original to the truck. Now that I've had a good nights sleep I'm going to go look again.

Okay, I think I have got it all pretty much figured out. I have one more pic on the drivers side firewall. I think the top connection goes to my taillights. What does the lower wire go to? Thanks again guys.

Re: Please Help multiple wiring questions

Cannot tell by wire colors, but, yes the top one is for the taillights/brake lights. I believe the bottom one is the backup lights. If it is light green in color.
