Who makes the best Drag Radial???

Who makes the best Drag Radial? I have an older set of bfg 275/50/15 that I need to replace.

Re: Who makes the best Drag Radial???

BFGoodrich and Nitto are up there for the best drag radials.

I think you should clarify... Best for????
Street duty and some track time thrown in?
or Drag Radial class Track only heavy hitter (as in PSCA 275 radial class?)

Re: Who makes the best Drag Radial???

Nitrous or turbo . The M/T pro seems to be the most popular around here at the track .

Re: Who makes the best Drag Radial???

Having owned a set of nitto's, bfg's and m/t's, my personal experience would be the m/t's over the other two as far as what works at the track.

Nitto's = mileage
Bfg's = a middle ground
M/t's = faster wear but faster track times

Thanks guys. Mine are old and tired. Just track duty. It's 60 miles to the nearest track though. I guess Bfg's ought to hold the 450-500 hp i'm expecting.

Re: Who makes the best Drag Radial???

The new m/t pro is the best dr out right now but really is a race only tire that happens to have a dot number. They do not make the pro in a 275/50 though,only a 275/60 right now. Lots of local x275 cars 60 footing 1.teens on them. The Hoosier is also a good tire but also not much of a street tire. They also have a much shorter life spam then the m/t. I've personally been 1.19 60' on a Hoosier with my Camaro. The original design m/t is by far the best all around dr. Great traction and pretty good life. I've been running drag radial classes with my car since 2000 and have tons of passes on all the different brands.

I wouldn't run anything other than the M/Ts. If you're running a drag radial, you want traction. The nittos suck in my experience. The Mickeys are soft and wear faster, but that's the price of admission if you want to hook on the street.

Re: Who makes the best Drag Radial???

For drag racing its Mickeys hands down, i go just as fast with them as i do on slicks. They drive great, just wear out fast.

Re: Who makes the best Drag Radial???

The only time i used a Nitto was on a car with 18s, a low profile tire, drove and handled really nice. Never really "hooked" hard, it was a 2000 Camaro with 480 to the wheels.

I've got mickeys (dot streets) and I like them, and they've done street duty without a problem if it matters.

Like they said above ,everyone is using the M/T drag radials around here. Looks like the new 275 one is killer.

Re: Who makes the best Drag Radial???

Im running nittos on my daily driver, they hook well on the track but i'm only making 350 to wheel, and they cut a 1.85 60ft, my e/t streets best was a 1.90
