Stock Heads / Headers ?'s

I have a question regarding the stock heads on my 69 c10 (stock 350 two barrel crab). I am getting ready to remove my factory exhaust and put on a set of headers and new exhaust.

So when I bought the truck it came with a set of headers that I would like to put on, the port is circular. I haven’t pulled the stock exhaust manifold, circular match up with the head?
Thank you,
Mike

I'm not sure if its a round or oval port. Pull the exhaust manifolds off and see. I'm sure someone here knows the answer

Maybe i'm wrong on the terminology, but they are rectangular shaped. Both heads and exhaust manifolds. I just went out in my garage and looked, as the engine is out. I can post pics of any of it, if need be.

Re: Stock Heads / Headers ?'s

Correction, they are more oval shaped with flat sides of course. I need a course in geometry i guess.;)

leftybass209, that would help. i am being very cost conscious, want to insure i have everything before i pull / in case i need to pull out and repair my commuter car or the wife's fam truck. i should note, i am a dad with Twins that are 2! this is already a great start, they love the truck. it was our Christmas car (wife is a photog)

leftybass209, thank you for the pic.

When i noticed that they weren't round i thought the engine might have been swapped. Here is a pick of the old exhaust manifold and the headers i was... going to use. Any suggestions on a good low priced header (thinking full length)?

I think most headers will look the same.

Re: Stock Heads / Headers ?'s

If you're going to headers, don't go cheap. The cheaper headers ingeneral have a thinner flange(the part that mates to the head) and usually have sealing problems. The thicker flanges help a lot with that. Also use the copper gaskets, they seem to last much better.

You don't wanna stick with the stock manifolds? They seal much better and supposedly flow pretty good

Re: Stock Heads / Headers ?'s

I think Sanderson is suppose to be a good brand. Some other guys may know more than me. I just had new exhaust put on but kept the stock manifolds. Like he said above make sure and get ones with thick flanges at least 1/4 to 3/8 thick
