Edlebrock intake manifold

I got a intake manifold for my 1990 Suburban 5.7, a few people have told me that I have to use a different intake gasket. Is this true? Can I use a stock intake manifold gasket? Not reuse is.. haha

Edelbrock make a ton of intakes, and GM made a ton of heads for the 350. The answer to your question is.... it depends.

If you have the swirlport heads from the early/mid 90's with the two front/rear bolts that are at a odd angle from the rest,,, then depending on which intake you bought....you may have to make the intake match the bolt angle. I'm not a fan of bastardizing the intake to fit some odd application, but it apparently works for some.

In the end you can tell if your going to have troubles if you put your gasket on the head and place it with a couple of bolts. see how it fits. Then do the same to the head and see how the gasket fits the head. Any place it doesn't 100% seal the ports and water,,, is going to give you monumential headaches and leaks.

If you asking as far as just 'material' as in 'whos' gasket,,, Edelbrock makes a good flat flange. I've never had a problem with them sealing using the most any gasket. But to save yourself some hearuburn just get a good FelPro Printo-seal gasket and forget-about-it.

do not use the fel pro permatorque intake gaskets on aluminum.. i didnt look at what came in a gasket kit for my big block. had coolant and vac leaks. replaced with edelbrock gaskets and all is well

The intake manifold i got is a 3704, and I have a set of Felpro MS93317 gaskets. The box doesnt say what they are made out of though. I ask because when I cold start the truck it has a miss, once it warms up, it goes away.

That intake is specifically for the '88-'95 TBI engines, and so are those gaskets. So I don't see as there should be a problem with those parts.

might be big block specific.. but it didnt seal the coolant or intake ports. then looked up the instructions for the intake and it said not to use permatorque. the printoseal (or however its spelled) was recommended or the edelbrock brand gaskets. i put the edelbrocks on and it sealed everything up

I believe your not suppose to use permatorque on aluminum intakes. It was made for iron style
