Bought some 20z for my truck, need tire help plz!!!

Hi All,

I bought some 20z for the truck, I managed to get a brand new set locally at a decent price, at the moment our currency to the dollar is very low so buying wheels from the states coupled with shipping and customs duties would have been to expensive at the moment so I bought these locally.

They are 20 x 9inch all round, I will post pictures later this evening as I am yet to download them from camera.

So far I can get these tires locally, do you think 35 profile side wall is enough for a v8?

FRONTS and REARS

Option 1:

245/35-R20 and 255/35-R20

Option 2:

245/40-R20 and 255/40-R20

Option 3:

245/35-R20 and 255/45-R20

it all depends on how much side wall you like tall or short. iam running 35's, 40's are nice too its all personal preference imo

I like running 8's and 10's on my truck.
A 20x9 up front will work with enough backspace.

I agree.
That's the problem with throwing out tire sizes and wheel backspace number here on the board.
Not everyone agrees on the sidewall height or how much the tire should tuck.

I like my front tires tucked deep under the front fenders.
(as long as the tuck just as much as the rear tires,... or a little more)

Awesome guys, thanks for the info.

@Original-71, awesome truck. Actually while driving home from work I thought about it and I think 255 and 245 will be too fat for 9inch rims, what width tyres are you running?

I am thinking of also running 35 wall up front and 40 wall rear because I like the tucked look and I also like the tire to stretch a little on the wheel.

So guys please let me know width you guys running ??? :) :)

And with running 35's do you guys still get enough traction on the wheels, although I am not into speed.....its a cruiser.... :)

Original-71 silly me, I checked your signature and see your setup, so you running 275z on a 10j so 255z should look nice on a 9j and 245z up front.

Exactly. That's the only way to give good advice.

Mine is a 71 rear end running 20's all around. 4/6 ECE static drop (parked on an incline in the pic).

Boss 338's with the original b/s they provided for 20's ...
....I think 5.3". The rars are 10's with a 1.5" spacer and wrapped in 275/45's.

The fronts have a 1" spacer and are 8.5" 338's with 245/40's.

Personally, I'd like MORE sidewall. But I bought these and I'll run 'em for now.

Just painted the back pass bedside with Tractor Supply ($30/gal) matte black.
One panel at a time for the RAT.

Check my ride thread, truck is pretty much the same, I am running it patina for now while I save to do the entire cab and bed over, sandblast and paint.

I will take some fresh pictures soon, because we in winter here and plus I have been doing building at home I have not got much done because the yard is in a mess with bricks, cement and sand all over.

I will post pics of the wheels shortly........

ADVICE Please guys.....

NEW TYRE OPTIONS available to me:

245/35/20 and 255/35/20

245/35/20 and 275/35/20

245/35/20 and 275/30/20

Which would be a better option considering they are 9inch wheels.

or should I go 245/40/20 and 255/40/20

I also don't want a bulky look, I like the way you guys trucks sit.

Most definitely on the cards, but for now doing lowered coils and then saving for air. Going to order some Porterbuilt stuff and airlift management because we have airlift dealers local.

;) much appreciated. I think for now the budget affords me the 245/40 and 255/40 combo. The 245/35 and 255/35 looked very small sidewall for the 9j's, but while I am saving for importing sick wheels from USA this will do.

I would like to import 8.5j fronts and 10j rears

Depends on the size of your existing tires. Bigger diameter tires will raise the truck. Smaller tires will lower it slightly. I prefer a 35 series on a 20" wheel.

Standard tyres are those Goodyear Hi Miler narrow tyres, very narrow to be precise.

I checked the 35 profile out and they awesome but then it will mean I will have to go very low static which I wont be able to now. I am saving for an air setup.

So for now the 40 profiles should do nicely....or so I hope....
