Fuel lines/Pump & Tank Questions

2 Attachment(s)
Hello,
I have a 1972 C/10 1/2 ton 2wd with 350 and TH350.
Trying to figure out if fuel system is hooked up properly with what's currently there. I have a fuel pump with inlet from tank, outlet to carb, and another smaller outlet, which I assume is a return of sorts. I currently have a Evaporative Emission Control gas tank, but none of the canister related items were there. So if I hook up the smaller line back to the tank as a return will that be ok? I have pasted a pictures of tank/pump like I have, that is if I inserted them right.

Thanks in advance for any help guidance

I would get a fuel pump without the return line. Plug all the other lines that you don't need, and get a vented gas cap. That's what I did on my '72.

Unless you're wanting to try to hook up the EEC system. The you'll need a non-venting gas cap.

I had looked into that option as well, but all the caps I came across were non vented unless you went to a cap for a C/20, but think the filler necks on tank are different.

I've been wondering about the evap system myself. My truck has long since lost its emissions sticker....If the system is operating normally will it eliminate the gas fumes I see people complaining about in the cab? I can see where the system would reduce or even eliminate fumes in the cab. Plus the evap cainster looks pretty standard so replacements should not be too expensive.

I have the the problem of gas coming out of a line close to the engine when my tank is topped off.I have tried all kinds of caps and nothing has worked.
