79 Volvo....

Well I have decided to start a new project. My Suburban isn't all the way done yet but it close enough. I have a 79 Volvo that was my wife's first car in high school. It has been sitting for the last 10 years. So....I decided to start building a nice 4 door sleeper car. I have a 5.3L LSX with a 4L60E...and a nice big turbo. I'm shooting for around 700 horsepower. It should be fun!

I wasn't happy with how the motor was sitting so I decided to make a new/modify the crossmember. It should work out well.

Seen this? http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=250257
Friend of mine put a nice write up on a 5.0 install. Some of which might be of use for you?

Can't wait to see more! Wish I went with an LS instead of Ford 5.0. Ah well.

Welded in my motor mounts yesterday. I'll make the transmission crossmember this week. It's coming along pretty nicely. The next "fun" will be figuring out steering...

Haven't posted on here in a little bit. Too many projects going on at once. I recently go ahold of a LS7 intake manifold and got a fuel cell, new B&M shifter, and a battery relocation kit. It should start coming along a little quicker now that I've knocked out a few of my other projects.

Finally got around to getting the right water pump for my new intake manifold. I'll probably start fabbing up the hot-side header soon.

Funny to see multiple Volvo people here. I once built an 85 240 4 door with a Toyota SC14 supercharger. Thats where my screen name came from...

I've had three Volvo's, they are great cars, you can make an awesome sleeper out of them. I wanted to do that with the 88 740 turbo 5 speed I had unfortunately I had to sell it. I have seen what the guy's on turbobricks can do it is very cool. good luck with the build.
