Re: CPP Rear shock relocation
Definitely looks "right" now. I just scrounged up my set today while going through my random parts. I'm gonna put them on tomorrow while I still have the bed off.

Re: CPP Rear shock relocation
Nice! The only thing that held me up was getting the old rivets out. Should be easier since you have the bed off. Once I put a fresh cutting wheel on the grinder I got the rivets right off.

Re: CPP Rear shock relocation
I use a 1/8" drill bit followed by a 3/8" bit to drill out the center of the rivets. A couple of smacks with the air hammer and a chisel bit and the heads fly off. That reminds me, I drilled out over 30 rivets the last time I used those bits and they were really getting dull. I may have to take a trip to Lowes tomorrow!

Re: CPP Rear shock relocation
Yeah my rivets were so worn and loose you could shake the stock brackets with your hand with a lot of play. It was a nice and inexpensive upgrade and i'm happy with the ride.:chevy:

Re: CPP Rear shock relocation
Looks good. Makes a huge difference in the way the shocks work.

Re: CPP Rear shock relocation
Im supposed to get mine this week as well cant wait, not sure how to do the install?
Is there a write up or a how to on the relocators on here? I can never find anything when doing a search.... for anything?? :/ Eric (Evaded) |
Re: CPP Rear shock relocation
Cpp doesn't really give you directions. Just one picture with a simple description. It's pretty straight forward. The new brackets go right where the old ones come off. You just need to get out the old rivets from the upper stock mounts. I can post more detailed pics later.

Here is what the upper bracket with the rivets looks like. Mine were so loose I just used a grinder with a cutting wheel and it fit in between the bracket and rail. You can just grind the head off and punch it through or drill them out. It was too hard for me to get too with a drill. Then the new bracket bolts into its place

Re: CPP Rear shock relocation
Awesome man thanks for the pics... hope these arent as hard as the stupid Upper Ball joints I had to take out. What a nightmare... grinder, cutting wheel, air hammer, BAH... no fun. ha!

Re: CPP Rear shock relocation
Getting the exhaust redone in the morning :mm: I want to route them a different way besides dumped under the bed. Looks like the best way is out each side turned down under the step on my step side.

Did you replace the mounts just to relocate the shocks or because you are lowering your truck. |
Re: CPP Rear shock relocation
I replaced them because the truck is lowered and I wanted the shocks to sit at a better angle to improve the ride and handling.
