Got my Cheyenne Home!

A little history behind the search for this truck. About 5 weeks ago I found a 69 on craigslist about 79 miles se of Nashville. Guy said it was all original. Wife and I left the house at 3am on a Saturday morning. 10 hours later arrived at the guy's place, truck was not as advertised. Had to walk away... Drove back to St. Louis area driving a total of 1300 miles Saturday pulling a trailer and dishearted. Spent the night in St. Louis. We got up the next morning. I told my wife my second choice was in Lenexa Kansas. Drove to Lenexa. Purchased the 72 Cheyenne that had a blown motor and not even sure the transmission was any good. Pulled the truck home for a total of 1504 miles for the weekend. Pulled the blown motor and I had a 350 that I pulled from my 69. Went ahead and replaced all the gaskets and gave it new paint. Changed out pulleys, put on a new water pump. Installed the engine and got in fired up tonight! Engine sounds great, transmission goes in all gears. IM A HAPPY CAMPER!!!!!!! The truck does have AC and the heater core is leaking like a sieve. The gas tank needs replaced as it is full of crud, but I see an end in sight and ready to get this baby rollin! Any tips from you guys on here or the easiest way to get to heater core and replace it??

Thats some hardcore drive time. It is so cool when you have a wife who has your back. It makes the whole thing that much better. I know both will enjoy that truck.

Heater Core tips I use. Use a 2X4 or 4X4 block to secure the passenger side of the hood. Then remove the hood hinge on that side. Then remove the bolts securing the inner fender on that side allowing it to drop far enough to get to the lower bolts on the cover holding the heater core. Might even consider removing that wheel for more room if needed. The rest of the process is straight forward.

Great looking truck. Nice the wife went with U to. Enjoy it.

I like taking the hood off and the passenger side inner fender loose. It's lots less stressful this way on a factory AC truck. U want even have to drain the radiator just pull the heater hoses looose and prop them up.
