lower control arm bracket change?
Just wondered if any one has ever change the lower control arm brackets?
Looks like they are held in with a rivet... When taking the truck apart the other day i realized the alignment pin was sheared half way off... could be the reason i alway have problems with the header hitting the lower control arm on that side... I see LMC has them but not sure who else... just looking for anyone else to chime in with where they got part and how the change out was? Thanks |
Re: lower control arm bracket change?
Haven't done this myself, but on one of the thread I saw where they removed the rivets, replaced the center pin with a regular socket head cap screw (to locate center) and two button head cap screws where the rivets were. They used locking nuts on the top, hope this helps...Jim

Re: lower control arm bracket change?
when I rebuilt the front end on my 67 all four brackets were loose and the locating pins on the front brackets were sheared off. I replaced the rivets with grade 8 3/8" bolts since the 9/16 head fit the shaft perfectly. I did have to put a 1/8" spacer under the front bolt for more engagement & I faced about .030 off the head of the rear bolt.
when I put in my new spindles I'm going to pull the control arms and drill the shafst for both pins like chevyrestroguy did |
Re: lower control arm bracket change?
Thanks for the info guys... I was thinking you would be able to skip the rivets and use bolts...
