Good replacement radiator?
I have a 95 c1500 5.7 with a leaky original radiator. Was thinking of replacing it with an aluminum one.
What are the drawbacks to the aluminum radiators? They do cost more but seem more heavy duty than the plastic ones. Also are there any complications in installing them or is it about the same as a plastic one.? |
Re: Good replacement radiator?
I just installed this one a few weeks ago.....

Re: Good replacement radiator?
Thanks. I saw that same one for sale. Not sure I would get the desert cooler one but they had another aluminum on there for about 200 bucks. Was the installation simple enough?

Did you switch to electric fans or keep the stock one?

Re: Good replacement radiator?
E-fans are on my list......Doing other mods first.

Re: Good replacement radiator?
aluminum is going to last longer, and is a better conductor of heat. The plastic units have to use epoxy to mate them to the core, which is where they typically leak (that's why we never use epoxy in any of our radiators)
