Did they make a 1970 2 wheel drive blazer ??
So i have a collection of cars that I have been collecting for well over years
4. 1970 Chevelles a 1970 split bumper camaro a 1970 nova and a 1970 Charger So the next purchase that I wanted was possibly a 70 elky or wagon or vette Then I went to a car show and seen a guy that had a 2 wheel drive blazer that the Top completely was removed and I remember these as they were 4 wd k5s But did they make a 1970 where the entire top came off? I thought having one to pull my chevelle to a show would be sweet but oh my my You guys never told me that when I was grabbing these chevelles and other muscle Cars that the 67/72 c10 pu and these blazers were going to go through the roof For pricing lol. Can I guy buy a 4 wd and make it a 2wd ? Im just trying to fiqure out options How to get into one lol so give me some advice please |
Re: Did they make a 1970 2 wheel drive blazer ??
Check out the Blazer project section... There are plenty of members building 2WD Blazers with bolt on parts to full custom frames... all depends on budget and ability.
Blazer was offered from 69-72. 2WD blazers werent offered till 1970. 70 had drum brakes where 71/72 had disc brakes. The only emblems are K5/Blazer, no 2wd specific emblems. |

1973-1975 is the second gen Blazer with the full removable top. 1976-1991 had a steel cab roof and only the back half came off. |

GM also made a GMC Jimmy of the same years. You can start with that and convert to 2WD and then swap out the front sheetmetal to anything from 1967 to 1972 from Chevy trucks as well...

Sounds like you have a nice collection, I am getting close to finishing my 72 Blazer 2wd conversion. Frame is a little different on a 2wd but everything from a 2wd truck bolts up. About 50 rivets to drill and punch out. How you build it and what you spend is personal preference. 2wd Blazers do come up for sale if your patient.

They made 985 2wd Blazers in 1970. Good luck!

Only made a small amount of 1970 2wd blazers What direction would you suggest me going to try and achieve this mission with out breaking the bank ? I understand money is going to be spent regardless lol |
Re: Did they make a 1970 2 wheel drive blazer ??
Blazers were utility vehicles and most were used hard long before they became popular or collectible. I imagine very few of those 985 trucks are left on the road today, you rarily see a real 2wd 70 anywhere today. I'd plan on converting a 4 WD over to 2 WD for your purposes and budget.

If you're planning on a conversion, you could also consider changing the front clip on a 71-72 to a 70 front clip.
