Re: looking for a 73-87
are you looking for a diecast or plastic/resin kit?
not aware of any 8ft bed diecast 73-87 chevy's except some 1/64 or smaller stuff, could be wrong though. same with model kits. only 2 ways i know for a 8ft box, take 2 shortboxes & make a LB, or contact Ron at RMR Resin, he casts an 8 ft box for his crewcab model, buy that & a regular cab model & start scrunching them together. maybe talk to Ron & he might cast you up just a box. very ocassionally an 8 ft box sometimes shows up on ebay from a backyard caster-some are good, some aren't which staggers me, as popular as these trucks are, you would think someone would tool them up..... |

i am looking for a plastic one hopefully. and ya i cant find a regular cab i was planning on just making my own kit essentially. id buy that box then i just need the chassis

if your going plastic, be aware that the rmr crew model is expensive (w/ship almost $65) & you still need a donor kit, the AMT '84 GMC would be your best one, my crew model, donor kit, & misc junk cost me close to $200 (for a model??!!)
if you want to do it reasonable, i would buy 2 chev trucks & make your own longbox. i'm working on a el camino right now, but i do have a spare shortbox that i will be turning into a longbox once i'm done. it's not really hard at all Attachment 1270190 you will also need to stretch the chassis 12mm behind the cab, lengthen your driveshaft & your exhaust (evergreen styrene 3/32 or 1/8 tube works perfect for both). the MPC kits have the best box for this, there very precise & even, as do the AMT's. revell 73-87 trucks really leave a lot to be desired |
