Hatch hinge covers, help find pattern.
 

I noticed when I got my jimmy, one of my hinge covers had a bent lip, mounted on the top part. The ones on the hatch had flat ones.

Ive been on the hunt and finally found a single bent lip one. But even that person said they have about 100 flats, vs about 5 bent lip ones.

If you still have a top around for yours, please go check and see if you have bent lip covers on the top. Post up year, style of top(single double), jimmy, blazer. Trying to see if there is a pattern for year, top, etc.


Mine is a 72 Jimmy, double wall, bent lip on the top covers.

Mine are the flat ones. 1970 Jimmy Custom, double-wall top.

All mine were flat. Two tops... single and a double wall.... all flat. Jimmy and Blazer... 1972's

I'm glad I posted pictures, otherwise I guess you people would think I'm crazy. So far I'm the only one that has these :crazy:

I don't see why GM would have added a break at that area; I don't see where or why it is warranted, it's not a structural part and the added process costs more money.

I'm not saying it isn't factory, but I just don't see a reason for it.

If it went all the way across rather then just the middle, I could somewhat see it. But just in the middle I don't understand either. But this is what was on the top of my jimmy when I got it.

Yep, I agree with you there. I could see it used on the hatch where it returns to the top.

Another thought that came to mind on variations would be what factory it was made at.

7th position.
Mine with bent lip is Flint factory.

I have no covers at all, is "that person" willing to part with a set of them for a Single Wall top? Please send me a name/number if you think they will.
