$1100 to spend

I have $1100 to spend, and of course it's goin to the truck. 600 of it is for posi and gears. That leaves $500. What should I get?

Gauges?
Ignition?
Cowl Hood?

Physh1 08-06-2003 06:14 PM

I'd bet that if you searched around you could do the cowl hood and maybe the ignition too. Did you just plan on a msd box or something more thorough?

Yeah the 6AL kit for $250.

I would go with the cowl hood before the ignition. I am looking for a cowl hood now also, so if you find a good place to buy, let me know.

If you got the Crate 350 from GM then Id change out the heads. Some Vortecs would do that motor some real good :D

The rearend is going to be a godsend for your motor, you can prolly shave almost a second off your ET. With the leftover money, I say fix little things that might be buggin you. I wouldnt waste any money on a cowl hood personally.

gldevall 08-06-2003 10:00 PM

If I get Vortec heads then I would have to buy a new intake.

gldevall 08-06-2003 10:01 PM

I think I'm going to get the ignition and some Nitto Drag tires.

BigRed 08-06-2003 10:10 PM

You can get a package deal from Scoggins-Dickey on intake and heads for a pretty good price if I remember right. Check it out. :)

gldevall 08-06-2003 10:17 PM

yeah, i think it's like $700

r0lf- 08-06-2003 10:25 PM

Vortecs and Posi. You'd drop some SERIOUS time. :D

gldevall 08-06-2003 10:48 PM

I'll do the Vortecs in a couple of months. As soon as we sell our house, I can do a few more things to the truck.

If you were closer, I would trade you your hood plus $$$ for my cowl hood..oh well.

Captkaos 08-07-2003 09:35 AM

You could send it to me? Or buy me some 42# injectors! :D ;)

LOHRTBT 08-07-2003 09:44 AM

I would say ...put it back...hold on to it for a bigger load to blow at once on the truck.
In my case...right now I would prolly set it aside to save up for a house. Im trying to do that now but MOD fever is hard to get over!! Do they make a pill for that?? haha

hold off on the ingnition till you can kill all of it in one chung, wires, distributor, 6-AL, and Coil...its like 7-800 bucks

How much boot($$) + a smooth 87 hood? I'm close enough...I think? Where in Tenn are you located? Close to what big city?

I would get gauges. You want to make sure everything is running perfect and a set of Autometer would be the way to go.
