Yeah, John has well over $40,000 invested into it and he still isn't done with this project. He also has a 57 ragtop 2 door sitting outside his shop awaiting a restoration . Great Chevy guy to talk to :D

What are you doing with the 283 ? I just bought one w powerglide over the weekend . Guy I know is closing on house and the engine trans was in the garage . Are you using in a truck ? With mods ?

dubie 08-21-2003 12:31 PM

It's going in my wifes 67 GMC project. Only mods are gonna be swapping out the generator for an alternator, getting rid of the oil canister with the oil filter upgrade and removing the ram horns to install a set of headers. It will be bolted up to either a TH350 automatic tranny or a Muncie 4 speed.

wow that car is really nice, is it for sale ? J/K with over $40000 invested, I dont think I could afford it. That is a really sweet ride.

who sells the filter changeover kit? BTW Tho I prefer 55's thats a jewel of a 57

First off, INSANE '57! That thing is beautiful! I would have had a hard time parting with that 283 if it were the original motor. I'm sure a portion of that $40k invested is in good modern treats, bu that thing still has a stock look to it (which I really admire). I think I would have kept the 283, and just built it up to get up over 300 ponies. Just my $.02 coming from the kid ragging on a $40,000 classic!!!!:D

Again, she's a bute!!!!

dubie 08-21-2003 02:31 PM

There is only 400 miles on this 283 since it was rebuilt. He did spend some cash redoing it with shaving the heads down 50 thou an Isky Cam, flattops, moly rings, and all new bearings. It also has a 2" riser plate under the Q-jet, but not to sure what it's for

I'm tellin you guys, this car is immaculate. You can see your reflection in the paint under the hood!! If it isn't black under the hood, then it's chrome. He has put about 4 years into this thing and it sure shows

Slams_58 08-21-2003 07:05 PM

He took all the chrome outer trim and replaced it with stainless steel..his exhaust is all stainless too

Hooter 08-21-2003 09:42 PM

for a second I thought you stole the motor out of that car, and was going to strip it and sell it of on Ebay, but Im just crazy
