Quite a bit more than I thought it would go for but guys have been known to take the bidding wars seriously on the govt auctions. I've seen guys pay way more than the going price for some things on the GSA auction site.

Nice truck with a history and a guy might be to do a serious detail job on the body and bring it up to a real "patina" and have a nice parade rig.

That is crazy, like 30K to much crazy. State mileage at 1700 but then say the engine was rebuilt 12K ago?? So is it 101,700 or 201,700?? There was one in Idaho I remember that sold for under 10K with good paint and all the fire hardware that had just been taken out of service about 5 years ago.

Orrie, I don't know if they're talking about the engine in that truck as rebuilt.

Not sure what that means. An extra engine?
What amazes me most; don't you guys on the left coast have lots of rust-free trucks to pick from?
Here's a couple pics for when the auction disappears.

converted to fire truck is a bit of a stretch; water tank, ladder rack and maybe a pto driven pump
with 1787 miles that would make a nice rust free truck for me to modify :D
though for that price... i can do rust repair on a $5k truck

for someone wanting a rust free, low mile truck; it's not like they're making them anymore :D

a fire engine. which is another name for a fire truck. so they have a 10 year old fire truck with 12k miles as justification of the low miles on the 48.

I wouldnt see paying 40k for it myself, but watching some of the barret jackson auctions I remain astounded what some people pay for stuff. I saw the unfinished boyd coddington woody bring 70k, about 3 times what I thought it would be worth with almost nothing done except the wood kit.

its nice that people still pay for originality, that truck sure has it all ate up with cool 40s fire accessories too. and its not a 3 ton truck, its a nice little half ton. I bet it ends up in a museum and really it deserves to. How often do you find one optioned like that?
