62 C20 Manual Steering Box replacement
I think I've read enough threads to know that this is correct but I thought I'd ask the experts anyways :)
I don't have a lot of play in my steering but it is a bit difficult to drive, turn, and shift all at the same time with the steering of a bus. It sounds like the only way to resolve this, other than going to power steering, is to go to a new manual steering box (with a quicker ratio) which still requires the adaptor that you would use for power steering. Could someone confirm that for me? Thanks! |

If you got a manual steering gearbox with a quicker ratio it will be harder to turn. The best thing to do is make sure everything is in tip-top shape & air the tires up to the max pressure recommended for the tires. Taking weight off the front helps.
Is it a 6 cyl. or v-8? |

I don't think there is any other way to put it but it wants power steering. My 66C10 with manual 7 turns was one of the hardest steering vehicles I ever drove.
