Removing Saginaw from 350

So I did my first engine removal the other night. Now, onto disassembly.

Heres my problem: Removed all the bolts to the bellhousing, tried to pull the trans (with bellhousing) and it came out a little, maybe a half an inch, but no more.

My question(s): is this normal? If so, how can I remove it further? My dad said he thinks its hanging up on the input shaft. Is there anything I need to further disassemble?

Any pictures would help greatly.

Info: SB350, Saginaw 3 speed.

Thanks.

Do you have the tin dust cover off the bottom, & the starter removed? longhorn

If you've cleared the engine dowel pins then most likely its the input shaft stuck in the clutch disc. Keep on prying......

So if I keep pulling it should come off? Will the resistance be the same or will it sort of pop off?

It should come loose if you keep working on it..sometimes if there is wear on the shaft or clutch it can make it harder to come apart..if you have it in the floor the trans centerline still needs to be somewhat lined up with the engine centerline until it clears the clutch..if you pull it out part way and let the trans drop out of centerline it will cause it to bind up..try holding up on the tailshaft and pry at the same time..may take 2 people..

Just got it out a little bit ago, ironically I dropped the engine lift an inch and yanked and it popped out. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. Hopefully this thread helps someone like me with the same problem.
