Trailing Arm Crossmember Fit on a Blazer??
 

Ok, I have a 1972 Blazer that is 4WD. I'm converting to 2wd and putt'n her on the ground. I was wondering if I convert over to trailing arms, will the trailing arm Crossmember fit between the frame rails like in a C10 or will I have to do some serious mods?

I'm not familiar with the Blazer market but arn't 4x4 blazers kinda valuable? Down here in AZ they are.

If you want to make it a two wheel drive theres a lever down on the floor betwen the passenger and the driver........

or just take the front drive shaft out;)

yes the trailing arm crossmember will fit right in

While this was an aftermarket cross member, it is the same whether for a truck or blazer

Looks great. That link also helps out with my next question about the alignment of the crossmember. Did you use stock Trailing arms or aftermarket ones?

2wd blazers used stock c10 type trailing arms for the suspension

I just finished mine using stock but welded trailing arms and a CPP drop cross member with the trailing arm mounts upside down from stock. With no notch and a 3/8" bumpstop mounted to the frame the trailing arms come extremely close to hitting the frame a full compression. Installed ECC 6" rear springs and so far so good, I have only hit the bump stops twice and there is no contact between frame and trailing arms. Have fun drilling all them holes!:bann::bann::bann:

Also I followed Grincoloco's lead an moved the x-member that spans the front mounts for the rear leaf spring brackets but I had to fabricate brackets that tie that X-member to the lower half of the frame and plates with gussets for the coils to rest on.

Also, go to Gringoloco's build and make sure to use the holes that he has pointed out to line up your x-member. Two of the existing holes will line up once you remove the parking cable brackets. If done correctly your rear wheels will be perfectly centered and your rear thrust angle will be good. When I took mine to the alignment shop the rear axle measured at 0.03, the tech told me that is better than a lot of new cars.

I checked out Gringoloco's build. Lots of good info on that thread
