Repo doors

Has anyone tired a repo door shell? I'm just wondering if they are worth the price.

just my two cents but buying a reproduction door would be my absolute without a doubt the last possible option.

Well, that's what I figured. I didn't know if quality had improved.

I bought one, worked on it for 2 weeks, it was just crap. The skin was weak, when just blocking the door the skin would flex and I had to reposition the window frame some. I sold it (gave it away for $40) it was that bad.

Recycled Hondas, just like all the replacements, you will replace in 5 yrs. Total crap. Try finding partial OE panels and cut and replace. Nothing will EVER replace OE steel quality.

I would be willing to pay for quality doors, why don't they make them?

They have to know this and have a ton of returns!

Until they start to "reproduce" quality body panels, We are buying, Their cheap ill fitting garbage that they will keep producing, hence, they won't change until we slow purchasing their crap. We buy,/they make. Try looking at local bone yards, pickup doors work too, same skins as your truck

This is what I'm hoping. Someday, quality body panels will be produced.

The ones I got I couldnt get a rear door gap no matter what I did. I actually discovered why, the area where the hinges bolt up on the repro doors are form wrong. There was actually a 3/8" difference when measures to the front door edge to the hinge mounting area.

I had the same dilemma a few years back. But the members on this board pointed me in the right direction, as they are doing for you now. I ended up keeping my OEM door shells and just replacing the door skins and bottoms from the molding line down. I did use repop metal for the patches, and had to do quite a bit of modification to make them work, but I am still left with solid, properly fitting OEM steel from the molding line on up.

Re: Repo doors

Why not just buy a nice set of truck doors and have the window frame cut off? Trucks are a lot easier to find.

Re: Repo doors

I'm certainly aware of that and could do that.

I was asking for opinions on quality of repo doors.
