Leaking Gas Tank Fix
In some past threads, I read of some problems with gas tanks leaking - I had the same problem. There's a place called Tank Renu that will repair the tank and warranty the work as long as you own the vehicle. I got mine done in '96, and the warranty card shows phone numbers for CA, IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TX, WI, and WV. I'm sure they have added more since then.
Check them out on the web at http://www.gastankrenu.com |
Hey, I have this problem. How much does it cost?
|
I paid about $260 back in '96

Wow!
One of the catelogs that I have sells new metal tanks, straps, sending unit, etc. for $190. I think I'll go "new". I'm far from being ready for a new tank though...just starting to tear down at this point. Thanks for the info, Davy |
I took my gas tank to a radiator shop and they repaired mine for me. I think it cost around $80, but not positive. I know it wasn't more than that. No problems since.

My price also included $125 for labor. I had them do everything - I wasn't about to remove my skid plate after 25 years of dirt and rust. The shop had to use air hammers to get it out!
The actual repair and lining of my tank was $140 - I felt it was worth it to never have to pay for another tank again. |
Paul72,
we should hit some junk yards together. Davy |
I'm always up for some bone yard 'shopping'. I travel all over Stearns county and have found some collections out in fields, behind barns, etc. that I would love to look through!
