Rams Horns for Vortec and 4x4
1973 Chev. Suburban K10 (that's a 4x4 folks!) 350/350 with missing AC!
I'm planning on adding Vortec heads to my stock 350. I want to replace the cheap-o headers that this truck came with. I would like to simply put Rams Horns on it but I'm confused by the "center dump" exhaust vs. "rear dump" exhaust. Is this just to clear the front axle? Any recommendation on Horns? I love how these look (Speedway Tru-Ram Exhaust Manifolds): http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/IMG_1273.jpg |
Re: Rams Horns for Vortec and 4x4
yeah i like those too. straight dumps are more for the 4x4 application so i think these rams will work well for you. angle dumps are more for the 2wd truck to better clear the motor mounts and put less restriction on the exhaust

Re: Rams Horns for Vortec and 4x4
My K20 had angled center dumps, straight dumps on my truck have clearance issues, it can be done but would take some fabrication on the exhaust pipe coming out of the manifold on one side.

Re: Rams Horns for Vortec and 4x4
I have tru rams.
I had to do a small amount of grinding (less than 1/4 inch) on the cross member to get them to clear. I thought the '73 and up (4x4) front cross member was different. |
