axle swap question
I have a 69 chevy with a closed knuckle front axle and I would like to swap it to a 77 open knuckle that I have the donor blazer sitting in my yard, my question is the spring pads are 7/16 farther apart on the 77 then on the 69 and the overall axle length is 1 inch longer on the 77, has anyone else ran into this issue, any help would be appreciated.

Re: axle swap question
They are actually the same distance apart. It's pretty much a bolt in deal, steering arm and brakes, maybe shock mounts are differences.

Re: axle swap question
The spring mounting points on the axle (pads) determine the spread of the springs. They should spread the 7/16". The extra axle width is fine.

Re: axle swap question
lank, I've bolted in a '77 D44 under my '67 build without any problems. Also a D60 without any issues. Don't sweat it, IMO you'll be GTG. Again, this is my experience. YMMV (My CYA move!)

Re: axle swap question
I used an 88 blazer gm 10 bolt with no problem on my 67.

Re: axle swap question
Is the transfer case the same also?
