my buddy's dad that built it has built plenty of motors, he built it for a 71 camaro w dana 60, tubbed, slicks, cage, etc, but found a780hp alum headed BB for a deal so i bought this motor. he said it should make 500 hp but that seems a little optimistic.

Sean,

Just out of curiosity, how were you able to use a square port manifold with oval port heads?

70 Jimmy 09-24-2003 09:10 AM

I've heard alot of people say it can be done. I've never seen it myself though. I guess you would trim the gaskets to match up.

superchevy 09-24-2003 12:31 PM

You use the square port gaskets. They'll cover the oval port on the head and match the port on the intake. You're going to get some airflow reversion issues, but, depending on who you talk to it's not a big issue - at least so says the engine shop that built my 468 ( which is oval/oval). I'm sure others will disagree.

the guy i bought it from said he was gonna try it to see if it wrked or no, some say it can add h.p., but he had doubts, but ad a square port intake, i was going to order a oval for the motor when i finished it.
