69 C10 SWB RIDE TECH coil kit frame off build thread!

Hey guys just wanted to post a thread of the 69 c10 I will be cutting up over the next few months to show the project and share the experiences/reviews of the parts I've chosen as it moves along. the truck is a mint mostly rust free 69 c10 swb from Tennessee originally. I just ordered a full ride tech coil over kit and the 383 stroker for her is at the machine shop :) here is a teaser pic to start things off. I will go into way more detail and post a ton more info when I have the time.

As I strip this down the original inline 6, trans and all the side trim ect will be available in the classifieds so let me know if any of you are after original suspension, 6 lug wheels, or any other parts I wont re-use ect

Gonna be a fun one. What all you going with on the 383?

Re: 69 C10 SWB choppin block full build thread!

well I started tearing her down last night and i have a few questions for you guys..

1- Who makes or sells better replacement parts Lmc truck or brothers?
2- Is this 6cy and trans worth anything it starts runs and drives decent but needs a cleaning ect or should I just take it for scrap so its not making my yard look like a junk pile?

for the question about the 383

its a 91 350 block from a trans am original hydraulic roller I bought some dart SHP heads that came assembled with the 200 cc runners edelbrock air gap intake. I'm going to do a basic eagle rotating assembly valve train will be complimented with scorpion roller rockers double roller timing assy and a lunati voodoo cam ( all arp assembly hardware) a Billet Specialties Tru-trac and all other engine accessories available from Billet. I'm un decided on the carb at the moment and I'm open to suggestions... I get a good deal on edelbrock and the motor is going to be all black so their black performer carb should look good with their black intake manifold that I ordered.

Im pairing it with a built 700-r4 for simplicity and so that I can cruise at 75 on the highway..

Might check with Nsane Hot Rodz or Southern Kentucky Classics, no experience with wither.. Just read good things about them.

I did a V8 conversion a while back and advertised the 6 cylinder locally before I removed it. A guy called the morning the ad hit and came out an hour later to hear it run before I took it out. It was a really good 250 which is what I got for it: $250. It helped a lot that he could hear it run.

Nice truck to start with. What kind and size of wheels are you planning to use? Are you going to leave the paint alone?

It will be getting a full media blast and paint... Not sure on the color yet but I was thinking a grey without metalic... I will be running Billet Specialties or Bforged wheels which are made by Billet... 24x10 or 12 rear 22x8.5 up front...

Sounds awesome! The Bforged wheels are cool but anything Billet Specialties makes is nice. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Re: 69 C10 SWB choppin block full build thread!

well I have been at it hard for the better part of three weeks now and this is where it is at currently.

I have decided going the Choppin Block route was a little more than I could handle fabrication wise on my first real frame off build. I went and met with a fellow member locally who has the the ride tech stage two coil over kit with the front sway bar.

the frame is completely stripped now and all I need to do is clearance for the front coilovers and do the c notch work after it comes back from the sandblaster.. then it will be going back to the blaster/coater for a two stage semigloss powdercoat. :)

the cab bed and fenders are stripped of all the moldings and are ready to hit the blaster as well. I have chosen a local shop that does nothing but body's and panels for automotive applications. I HAVENT PICKED A COLOR SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED! LEANING TOWARDS A GREY OR MAYBE DARK BLUE...

I also ordered all new steering components, bed mount fabricated gas tank, all braided fuel ines from Russel, Vintage air hot rod heater gen 2, bought some early classic industries SBC headers, Small block engine stands, Dakota Digital VHX gauge set, Wilwood 4 piston discs all the way around and a Wilwood manual master cylinder.

Hoping to order the power steering gearbox and the brake lines/fittings this week so that I can assemble the frame quickly once it returns from the coater.

here are some pics so far!

Are you sure you want to paint it? It looks super clean in the pictures. Either way, I will be following along!

The paint is an awful color and was a quickie job... i'm also a perfectionist which could be a problem.

I still think you should paint it white. I wish I would have went that route now lol
