Fuel tank for diesel
Searched the forum for which fuel tank is best for my '68 GMC C30 that is receiving a '93 12 valve Cummins. Came up with the 31 gallon suburban tank and want to know if a galvanized steel tank is ok or should I go with a poly tank? Seems that diesel fuel brakes down galvanizing over time. Thanks in advance!

Re: Fuel tank for diesel
You can get a 40 gal diesel burb tank and use it but it may take some modifications to get it mounted in the 68 Frame. I had one mocked up in my 72 C30 frame so it will fit.

Re: Fuel tank for diesel
This is one of the tanks that come up for the diesel engine burb. Says in the description that it is galvanized....

Re: Fuel tank for diesel
There is another that says its Ni Terne steel. I like the 31 gallon because it doesn't hang down as much.

Re: Fuel tank for diesel
I know the ford diesel tanks are galvanized inside. I've never seen any issues with the galvanizing coming off on them. The tanks usually rust out first. I put a new galvanized 40gal burb tank in a 89 V2500 and I haven't heard from the owner in along time so all must be well there.

Re: Fuel tank for diesel
Neighbors F450 just lost both plastic tanks. Made a mess of the injection system. Took out the pump and lifters according to Ford.
