Fuel tank resto

Anyone had a fuel tank fixed and restored? My factory auxiliary tank in my 72 is leaking out of the corner so I will need your remove it and get it fixed. I was hoping I could get it coated in something too after it is fixed, rhino lining maybe? Thanks for any help

Lining the inside or outside? The reason I ask, when ever I do work on a fuel tank, I make sure it will hold water. Even then, fuel can leak when a tank will hold water. So, I then use red-kite to line the inside of the tank.

If you mean the outside (which I assume you did), I think rhino or similar would do the trick.

This is just a suggestion but you might consider the replacements that are readily available new. For example LMC's version is only $150..

Maybe Summit has one too..

I wasnt aware anyone reproduced the auxiliary tank. I will look into it. And I guess I was talking about both inside and out. Rhino for out and I wasn't sure on inside. Thanks for suggestion

Sorry! I missed that word "auxiliary" in your original post.. I thought you meant the in-cab tank...

Pretty sure no one is producing the aux tanks - at least the saddle style but maybe there could be a modern RV tank that would fit..

So you were on the right track with restoring yours..
