carpet

Installed TrimParts carpet. It is too wide. Is it suppose to be cut to fit even though it is sewn on the edges??

I have ACC carpet, but the answer is no. However, my original carpet had the binding that is sewn to the edge and a small amount of carpet cut off under the sill plates. I assume this was done to allow the sill plates to lie flatter. Below is a picture where you can see this. The original, at least on my 69 with buckets and console, did not cover the floor under the seats.

Re: carpet

Are you sure it's all the way flat against all the curves of the floor? If it isn't pressed fully into place it will end up too wide.

I've done one new carpet myself on my last truck, and the PO did carpet in my current truck, and neither one lost the sewn edge...

I used a Trim Parts carpet kit on my 72 Cheyenne Super and the sides of the carpet end right on top of the rocker pinch welds. They give you lots of extra material at the back, like 8-10" going up the gas tank.

Maybe you ordered carpet for a high hump transmission and you have a low hump?

Carpet fits everywhere except it is to wide. Mostly at the rear.

funny i saw this, i am trying to install mine too, and its wide as well from the sides and the hump is pretty "slouchy". Is yours a low hump as well? if so what part# did you order?

Part number i got is #53006-501 only difference between yours, and mine is that i still have the gas tank in the cab...its kinda hard to tell based on their descriptions if its "low hump" or "high hump"..but it looks like a low hump, idk why its so loose around it though..i've laid it out in the sun for a couple days now too

Just a wag, but high hump and low hump carpet?
I had to align the shifter hump on a Camaro to make the AAC carpet fit

Re: carpet

It is low hump carpet. Fits good everywhere but the sides.
