Heater box reassembly: I still have questions.

I need to get the heater box back together and back on the truck this week. Several members suggested I used "gum cord" or "strip caulk" but the HVAC store here does not know what those terms are.

Would I simply ask for a gasket or sealant in a tube at the auto parts store?

Who has reassembled their outer (under hood) non AC box? What were your exact steps to do it?

*Sorry if I come off as a moron, it's my natural state sometimes.

Manestruckparts sells a gasket kit that replaces the cord sealer .

I've kept this thread book marked for a while. I'm going to be using it as I go through mine.

Most parts catalogs sell gasket kits

I think they're talking about 3M strip-calk. I believe its available at NAPA. It would work better than what I used, silicone RTV.

The sort of reply I was hoping for! Thanks! I'll check on some tomorrow when I go out.

I looked on the napa website and it shows the 3m strip caulk at $28.49 https://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/MMM08578/
Its almost 3 times the amount than that of gum cords at 60 ft versus 100 ft of the gum cords. Ive bought gum cord for around $10

Actually I think I got the price confused with cork tape but it still is no where near the Napa price.

Oh that is fine, thank you! You even tried to find a store in WV, nice of you. :)

I am about to go out to NAPA right now, actually.
