Big block C10 short step coil spring exhaust hanger help!
3 Attachment(s)
I'm laying out my Pypes 2 1/2 exhaust system and my GM exhaust hangers. I've got one more hanger being delivered and I have new rubber inserts.
It looks like 4 hang vertically from the frame and 2 hang horizontally from a crossmember. I do have the small crossmember that I removed for my Blazer tank installation. I didn't see any predrilled holes in the frame that look like they would work. I'm using the factory crossmember for the transmission bellhousing mount. Where should I put the hangers on my 67 frame? I don't have an answer to your question, but can you tell me what the measurements are between the pipes on the x-pipe? I have been contemplating using the Pypes system on my truck but I am not sure I can use it with my current mufflers as they have center inlets and outlets.

Keep in mind that the x-pipe is 5 separate pieces and you cut it to size. The width can get pretty narrow, if needed. |

I measured 22" outside on one end and 37" outside on the other. Either side could be as narrow as ~12". The welds on the X-pipe are stainless and are very nice. I ended up returning the system and had a custom exhaust made. The factory hangers wouldn't work as I wanted the exhaust tucked up high. |
Re: Big block C10 short step coil spring exhaust hanger help!
Glenn, thank you for taking the time to post this. What P/N was the Pypes system? I was looking at SGT 79 for our trucks and their tech dept told me the outlet legs on the x-pipe were only 13" apart which would not work for me, as I am tucking my exhaust up between the frame rails as well, and routing through the trailing arm crossmember.
