1970 Blazer bucket seat mount options
Hi everyone,
I picked up a set of buckets for my new project. Unfortunately the driver side slider/mount assembly is shot. Severly rusted and torch cut. They really did a number on it, and cannot be resurrected. Are there any newer year donor mounts that I can use without any major modifications. I'm not concerned about the truck being totally original, but safe and functional yes! 1973 and up stuff is quite a bit cheaper then the 1969-1972 years, so thought someone might have the answer to this one. Or does anyone have a set for the driver side for sale? Located in St. Paul, MN. Land of 10,000 lakes and Hamm's beer :metal: |
Re: 1970 Blazer bucket seat mount options
Correct driver side sliders are hard to come by for the 69-72 bucket seats and are pricey when found. 73 and up years are a little different and seats sit up higher in height. One option you have is buying the 69-72 pickup passenger side bucket seat solid mounts. This will get you back on the road. Many vendors sell them for about $100. Your seat won't slide, it will be stationary but at correct height. They will bolt to your original seat bottom okay. You will need to drill some new holes in floor to mount. It will be tricky if your rocker boxes are in good shape, meaning you won't be able to fasten nut to bolt in that area beneath floor by hand.

Even though original ones are pricey and hard to find, its better to hold out and find the original one and make it correct.

I agree, I want original equipment. But may have to take the temporary route

Do you have utility buckets or the other style? I probably have some for utility buckets...

Re: 1970 Blazer bucket seat mount options
Regular sport buckets. Bummer.

Re: 1970 Blazer bucket seat mount options
Can the utility be "made" to fit?
Not sure on that. |

Scour your junkyard up there in Minnesota. Dont know of any off the top of my head but I have talked to a few people up there that say they have seen k5s our vintage in the yards still. Too bad I sold all my parts to move into town.....seems I had everything that everybody needs/wants now....including me since my new purchase.

Re: 1970 Blazer bucket seat mount options
If you want a challenge I think the bottoms of that vintage bench seat could be made to work. The front foot is the same and the back could be made the same with a simple modification. The track is longer it would need to be cut to length and a couple of holes drilled. That being said if your top track is shoot then your out of luck. Another thing is I'm not sure how the track comes apart I only needed one bracket and didn't go any further. Also you will need to rivet it back together I made a threaded plate and attached the foot back on with ss allen bolts.

Does anyone have measurements for the actual mounts that bolt to the floor. Height, width, ect. The rear mounts on each adjuster track can be saved I believe, but both front brackets are 2/3 missing. Attachment 1664054

I wish my brackets looked like that, wouldn't be having this conversation.

Re: 1970 Blazer bucket seat mount options
That is the one l replaced on mine it was the same as the bench seat should be able to find a set of bench tracks easily. If you go a different route I would be interested in your old tracks.

I've got 2 sets of passenger side tilting brackets. One has been modified to work on drivers side. Would need new holes in floor to mount. They have also been shortened about 1.5". Previous owners handy work.

I have one leg of the pair for the drivers seat, I think it is the inboard one. If you can find the other let me know
