Brakes and Running Hot
 
Okay guys need your input again. I have the 383 in with a comp 292 cam with a .501 lift. I put a T in the intake and it still didn't make much of a difference in my brakes. I have power brakes with disc front and drum rear. The T is double meaning im running tranny vacuum and brake vacuum off of it. The braking is about the same as it was from the back of the carb. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

That's a lot of cam that produces low vacuum. You might need a vacuum can or a vacuum pump.
Or fine tune your motor to maximize your vacuum.
The right timing helps.
What's your initial timing?

Yea I've tried everything geezer. I think Im going to have to go to a hydroboost setup. I hate to but my brakes really suck. If I do go to the hydroboost can I use my master and prop valve? Some of the other guys said call jim at hydratech. I will try and give him a call because Im going to kill myself or someone else with these brakes.

The only difference in your system would be where the amplification (boost) is coming from. A hydraboost will not affect the hydraulic part of the braking system. (Beyond the fact that hydraboost is a hydraulic system). It might be cheaper to go to a vacuum pump system. Check into that?

An alternative is to use a manual disc brake master cylinder. It will have higher pedal effort, but not that much above a manual brake cylinder for all-wheel drum brakes, and it won't depend on engine vacuum.
