Reverse lights issue

Making sure all my lights work on my truck. When testing out my reverse lights, they do not come on when truck is in reverse, but they do come on when shifted in neutral. Not sure how to fix this issue. My pointer on the shifter that points to what gear I'm in never lines up very well. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Re: Reverse lights issue

Adjust the shift linkage so that your indicator lines up and will shift into all the gears and that will fix your indicator problem and maybe your reverse lights. If it does not then you will need to adjust your reverse light switch by loosening the two screws that attach it to the column and sliding it left or right. The switch is on top of the column just behind the fire wall.

Just did this the other day and had the same exact issue with reverse lights coming on in neutral. As stated above loosen the two screws on your safety switch at the bottom of your steering column in the cab. Then turn the key on, put the truck in reverse and move the safey switch side to side until your reverse lights come one. Once you get your lights to come on tighten the safety switch down. It helps if you have another person to stand behind the truck but I did it on my own with the garage shut.

Is this the screws I need to adjust? Circled in red in picture. Thanks.
