Real Ice Coral Pink

2 Attachment(s)
Many of you know I used to have a pink and white 72 C10 and although Ice Coral Pink is an original color my truck started out a 534 Willow Green Metallic and White and was in the pink/white when restored the first time in the 90's. The Ice Coral Pink was actualy a GMC Promo Color but I'm assuming you could have ordered a Chevy with that color. I came across the pictured truck on Facebook and this one is a geuine Ice Coral Pink and white and I believe this is the only two tone scheme it came in but again back then they usually built a truck the way you wanted it. If anyone ever comes across an original Chevy in the pink and white please post upsome pics and any info you can.

I see it has 69-71 mirrors. What year is it, '69 or '70? Is it restored? I see it doesn't have Sierra bedside emblems but it has woodgrain. I never knew your '72 was not originally that color.

I contacted the owner through Facebook and asked if I could get more details about the truck and the okay to post them.

Looks like a clean truck. Got any interior shots?

You would have to sell a truckload of Avon product to get that one!

Thanks. I think it's 69/70 by the paint scheme. And I think a Super Custom. I guess the fender has a 910 badge.

From the info I’ve been told they were only avaliblie in GMC and only71 and 72. Rumour has it they were built to comemerate the wedding of Margaret Trudeau to Pierre in 1971. Apparently she wore a pink frock. Already gone and I did have a conversation on one that used to belong to a fellow in eckville years back and I’ve been trying to locate it. Already gone thought it may have found its way to Edmonton but I haven’t been able to confirm this yet

Billy Riddle in Rocky had one that he used to park at the bumper to bumper (Rocky Automotive)all the time. It was supposedly his wife’s truck. He was a parts man there. Maybe he still has it. He lived about a block west of the A&W. it used to sit in his backyard.
Isn’t it about time for your annual trip to the big city! You could check it out!

Camo huh!
I remember the truck. Maybe it wasn’t his. Look him up. Maybe he can shed some light on the pink truck in Eckville. Wife says he used to live there way back when.

I read somewhere a few years back that each GMC dealer in Canada got one of the ice coral trucks.

That paint scheme threw me off. I guess since it was a special paint they did a special two-tone. C'mon, do you really need sleep after only 24 hours of work? Some guys sure have their priorities out of shape

That's a pretty color!

Re: Real Ice Coral Pink

No. Sometime in the '80s it became ok for guys to like pink. I think it's the golfer's fault. They get away with a lot of weird clothing most men would find... not so manly. I remember seeing men (yuppies) wearing pink all of a sudden all over the place. It was scary I tell ya! My carpenter buddy (very tall) had a sweatshirt that turned pinkish from washing with red stuff. The women loved it and it wasn't because they thought he was loose wristed

Re: Real Ice Coral Pink

Pink became more popular when the western community started to do a big donation thing for breast cancer awareness. A lot of the brand name company’s donated to breast cancer on every shirt etc etc they sold in pink. I think it then spun off in to other things ie: golf etc

Re: Real Ice Coral Pink

The only pink clothing I wear is when my mother washes my socks up with something red, which still happens if I visit and happen to leave any socks over there.

Okay gang here is more info on the truck. The prersent owner bought it from the original elderly owners son in 2000. He said he tried along with lots of other folks tried to buy the truck over the years and one day the OO"s son called him up and offered him the truck. From what he said he started a resto on the truck then and finished it in 2000 and A/C was added during the resto.. On the spid notice the Special Color Paint Code of SP4001ZC and on the sheet I have with all those special paint codes it shows SP0041 as the pink and white two tone code. Now on the 3rd sheet which is from GM's Heritage division, remember GM Canada kept records of all the trucks sold up here, and it says SP0041 as the paint color for this one.

Pictures. I am going to see if he has pics before the resto as I'd like to see how the interior was painted.

Many a Mary Kay GM vehicle has rolled down the assembly line. They were painted "light red", according to the broadcast sheet. I would also venture to say that it takes a "real man" to drive a [cough]pink[cough] light red vehicle.

When I had my pink and white many many times over the years I was asked if it was my wife's truck because they probably a 6'2 200lb + man wouldn't drive /own a pink truck.
