1967 chevy c10 door seals
 

Hi, I'm rebuilding my 1967 Chevy C10 pickup and have run into a problem in replacing the door weather seals. the original were the clue on type and now I have replace with the Snap-On type. Big Problem, the door will not shut all the way. I've tried moving the doors on their swivel axis, but to no used. I'm looking for all and any suggestions. thanks

I seen where they drill little holes in rubber to let air out ,,,will seal up after time...:chevy:

With the doors closed, the weatherstripping gradually takes on the shape of the space it's confined to. If the doors fit properly now, I'd leave them alone. Hopefully you can live with it until it gets better. You should end up with a really good seal.[member Stocker]

thank you for your answer, this is a brand new seal, I have checked all the air holes to make sure air is flowing out, still no use. Hopefully there is some one out there with the same issue and experience and the results taken. thanks

I replaced my door seals this past summer and the doors were a real pain to close. I would have to slam the heck out of them. It took a couple of months and they settled in. They close like normal now. I did not have to adjust anything at all.

I bought the expensive ones with the mounded corners and tried everything to get the doors to close nicely. They ended up in the bin I’m going to try a genetic set from eBay. Can’t wait for someone to make some good ones

Only way to adjust that is to move the striker out. Did you lube all of the moving parts inside the door, and the star wheel? That may help if you haven't. If you roll the window down and use a good strong flashlight you can see the door latch & lock, and spray a little penetrating oil on the mechanism. If you decide to move the striker out be sure and mark around it with a fine felt tip pen and only move it about 1/16" at a time. Make sure it doesn't move up or down.

As above. I replaced mine with the push on type about ten years ago and had trouble closing them. I moved the striker out and that helped but still had to slam the door shut until they got settled in. I have no problems with them now and they work great.

It helps to do it in the summer so the rubber gets a chance to soften up some and I also found out that if I lowered the windows some the door was somewhat easier to close.
