The alignment currently looks like this | \.
Do i just need 87 C/20 tie rods or the center link as well? |
Re: Just picked up a 70 C10 with 87 C20 Suburban spindless
So why the 8 lug front? If the alignment looks like the symbols you used we need more pictures to help figure out what has been done to your truck.

The outer tie rod ends are too small for the spindles. Do I just need the outer ends from the donor truck?
The spindles in the pics were in the floor board as well. |
Re: Just picked up a 70 C10 with 87 C20 Suburban spindless
Ive been looking on rock auto and they list the 87 tie rod adjusting sleeve as 1/16-18 and the 70 C10 sleeve as 5/8-18. I am going to check the fit of the spindles that are in the pics after work tomorrow.
"Drum to Disc" conversions 60-70 thread states: 3) The 67-70 a-arms can also be used with any other (71-72 or 73-87) spindle, with a simple ball joint change. * The upper and lower ball joints and outer tie rods must match the correct year of spindle you choose. IF they aren't the same thread then how can I make this work? |

The do make tie rod sleeves with different sizes on each end.

The extra set of spindles are too small for the tie rod ends on the truck. they are original.

Re: Just picked up a 70 C10 with 87 C20 Suburban spindless
So what is the goal for this truck? Do you want 5 lug all the way around? Would you like to go to the original 6 lug? What is it in the back? I have fixed a bunch of trucks over the years that were suffering POM. Previous owner mayhem. The best fix for this is to decide what the end goal is and then a path forward to get there. A 70 was a drum brake truck so the Spindles are 71, 72 or 73 and up. The 73 and up come 2 ways with either 1" or 1 1/4" rotors. On the tie rod sleeves I think CPP made them. There is a mix of inner and outer tie rod ends you had to use to get the correct left and right hand treads.
