My moulding fell off in my driveway. What to re-attach with?

A few years ago I repainted my truck and got new side moulding all around. It attached with three rows of already installed tape and held fine until it all a sudden didn't. I can razor the old strips off, but what do I use to re-attach? I've tried RBL ultra bond tape in the past and it doesn't hold at all. This is my 98 GMC if it matters.

I've used 3m molding tape with great results...

Yep, there are many out there, as long as it's designed for this sort of thing, they are pretty amazing. The 3M, you could literally mount a fender with that stuff.

I have to say that the side mouldings on those trucks are a bit heavy, so be sure to attach it properly. Clean it, "shave" the old tape off with single edge razors is how we do it at the shop. We "whee" the glue off the door. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Astro-Pn...FYfkZAodHekATQ

Apply some adhesion promotor. We use this exact one, get it in boxes of a hundred! Blows me away how much some of this stuff costs retail. https://www.walmart.com/ip/3M-4298-A...SABEgJQiPD_BwE

And on the real big truck door mouldings, Personally, this is a MARTINSR thing, I put a dab of window urethane at each end. They often peel up at the end then hit the fender when you open the door and peel up, a dab of urethane at the very end will stop that from happening.
