70 C30 Hauler Build

Finally getting around to starting this build thread.

The truck has been in my family since the late 70s. My Father was an avid drag racer and my Grandfather needed another truck to use for our family business. Summer time, this baby hauled my father’s 69’ DZ 302 Camaro to the drags. Winter time, she was put to use and hauled brush and wreaths for the business. My father wanted to sell the truck after my Grandfather passed a few years back. It has sat for sometime and needed some TLC. I talked him out of that and here we start!

It started as a cab and chassis bought from the local dealer, used. My father and his cousin stretched the frame 3 feet and built a custom flat bed with ramps. It has a 0.030 over 350 with some head work, RV cam and supporting goodies backed by a 4 on the floor. She currently runs like a top! The body is showing its age. The floor was patched years ago and the doors were done. Now showing some rot, they will need some attention. A tree took out the hood, drivers side fender, grill and windshield about 20 years ago. Only the hood and windshield was replaced. I plan on addressing some of this later after i get it back on the road.

So far we’ve gone through the brakes and replaced all lines, master and parking brake cables. Next up will be some frame patching in the right rear near the front leaf mount. I just purchased 6 new tires which will be on some 16” Alcoa’s. Long post, but that’s all for now! I’ll keep the updates coming as we do more work.

I am looking for more info and parts for the dual rears for these trucks. It’s hard to find rear leaf parts and frame mounts for these. Anyone have that?

Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks to my buddy, we got the tires all mounted up this weekend. My father and I did a quick clean up on the wheels. They actually are steel chromes by the name of Dexter. Made in the good old USA! Still looking for some chrome lug nuts and centers for the wheels.
Next up is taking off the bed and doing the rear end and frame work!

Just picked up some new clearance lights to replace the missing and faded ones. Winter is coming and it seems my working days are numbered.
