Factory trans cooler upgrade

Just replaced my factory trans cooler on my 2004 2500 HD with gm part number 89022577 . It’s twice the size and twice as thick. This replacement cooler was factory on 98 Chevy 3500 with 454 I just cut brackets off a old cooler and made them fit new cooler. I had about 45 mins into it the factory lines plug right in!

I have that same cooler sitting around that I never installed on my old GMC. I was wondering if it would fit, any fittings needed?

The factory AUX coolers for the T800 and T900 are tiny.

That T400 cooler is about the size of a Tru Cool 22,000 lb cooler. That's a big improvement over the stock cooler.

There's a vendor on performance trucks that sells a kit to mount the Tru Cool 47391 40,000 lb cooler on the T800 but you have to cut one of the lines and rotate it 180°. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...rdware-508374/

You can buy the JiffyTite push-lok fittings, that GM used on the factory transmission cooler, that screw into the threaded fittings on some of the Tru Cool units like the 47391. If the GM hoses become obsolete it's not a big deal to make them in steel tube with a Mastercool Hydraflare tool. That's what I did to make up a leak free TruCool unit on my Impala.

The gm cooler I used is made by long I believe they are the same company the makes the B&M coolers

Re: Factory trans cooler upgrade

I've read that Long makes some of the GM, Tru Cool, and Hayden coolers.
It wouldn't be shocking to find that B&M buys some of theirs from Long as well.

Long makes some pretty decent low pressure drop plate oil coolers.

Thanks! That's the same size cooler my 99 has. I'll have to order one for the 2011.
