painting over spray bomb paint ?
1 Attachment(s)
Can you paint over this rustoleum 2x spray paint? I,m just going to use acrylic enamel single stage paint. I did a little test on a fender to see if I liked a certain color for 2 tone.Sorry I know nothing about the chemical make ups of paint to know if they will react with each other

Re: painting over spray bomb paint ?
rustoleum reacts very badly with most other types of paints and will wrinkle. I've seen it 100 times. I would remove it first. And as a rule, try not to ever use rustoleum paint unless its on a landscape trailer or a fence or something.

Re: painting over spray bomb paint ?
A common mistake with those who are novice at painting, is too use primer from one brand paint and try to cover that with a different brand paint. It almost never works. They regularly fry and turn to mush. I just accidentally did it yesterday; an i know better! Got in too big of a hurry.
Anyway, short answer is don't do it. It will most likely turn into 3 X more work than you want too do. |

Re: painting over spray bomb paint ?
Rustoleum doesn’t even like to cover over itself if it’s too soon. Gotta do it within an hour or after 48 hours or it will wrinkle.

Re: painting over spray bomb paint ?
The reason painters make big money (most anyway) is they understand basic chemistry. It pays to read the directions and re-read them until you know what is being said. AND, do not mix name brands. Unless you know for a fact that the two will jive together. Mbeef61 is somewhat right. Gotta practice, understand the directions and practice patience if you want to even be a good beginner at laying down paint.
