Post your OEM AC compressor decals

I’m curious to see year to year variations for OEM for the AC compressor decals. If you have an OEM example please post. Thanks.
Here's one I mistakenly believed came from a 1972 K20 suburban but that example is posted below - this example is a spare I have. |

The first picture is the original on my '69. However, when new, there was a 3.25 sticker like in pictures 2 and 3 over the 3.75 to indicate the R-12 charge. The sticker went AWOL years ago. The second, third and fourth pictures are of the label I removed from a '69 in the junkyard. It's on my current compressor. I don't recall ever seeing one like you posted which lists non-truck applications.

Re: Post your OEM AC compressor decals
Thanks for posting guys. Wasn't sure whether or not the compressor I depicted was original to the motor or not. The motor only had 54k mi on it.
Would like to see other examples to learn what is correct for what years. |

Good on ya for this one Pete. Here's our 69 original (a 6550133 just like Jim's 69, ours from a Sept/Oct Fremont K10) along side the reproduction we had made. I don't have any clue on how to decipher the Code No. We just copied what we had. The model number I feel will reveal a clear pattern for year and application once we have enough data points. To that end, I've got a 70 and 71 that I'll try to photograph and post later today.

This is what was on my 67 gmc. Might not be stock looking at yours but 67 was always different so why not this too..

Here are my other two original compressors. The first (sorry for the pic-it's 3hrs away and the best I could do) is a 1970 K20 350 auto built in Fremont in July 1970. The second is a 1971 C10 350 auto Inflation Fighter Special built in August of 1970. These compressors are a month or less apart. I can't be sure the K20 has a code number based on the pic, but both have the same 717 model number.

Re: Post your OEM AC compressor decals
Brilliant Jim. I knew you Corvette guys had already done the homework! That makes our code October 3, 1968, 1st shift. Which matches up with the 11/14/68 protecto plate. Awesome info.

Brilliant! Thanks Jim.
Here’s a compressor decal from a 1972 MY k20 Suburban survivor sold new in October 1971 that looks date code correct: Sept 17, 1971 second shift. This is on my k20 now. PS here’s the suburban: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=467636 |

Great info. Jim (post #10 ). Appears my compressor is consistent with the 05/71 build. If original it was built 6 months earlier than most date coded parts on my 71. Be interesting to see what everyone's build date is compared to their compressor date. Most date coded parts on my 71 are a month earlier than the truck assembled date. |

I'm thinking that the decals changed slightly for the 1972 model year. I'll gather some more examples.

I know this decal doesn't isn't what your asking about but for others reading this thread about 67 decals I believe the one I posted is correct for 67. This pic is from foose's c28 truck and it has the same decal. I would think he would have used the correct decal.

I had shelved the project as things had gotten upended this year, but now is as good a time as any to pick it back up. You've got your number, so give me a few weeks to get the graphic art done...and then we can put our group and numbers together and print a run. |

Re: Post your OEM AC compressor decals
If I can help in any way let me know. I'd be game for 72-style repros if possible. It appears that 72 decals made use of a second overlay decal reflecting lbs charge as shown in post #12. A two-piece affair.

I'll try to float the decal off the K20 compressor with the boss's hair dryer this weekend :)
