i have a 89 burb and im redoin the susp and putting in 8 lug rears from a 30 series truck my emergecy brake cables run towards the drivers side and the ones from the 8 lugs look to split one to the left and one to the right.
the 8 lugs look to be bolted to the backing plate and my orig ones arent any ideas ? will a 20 series cables work? :flag:

What year did the axle com from? The way the parking brakes are set up changed several times over the years. Most of the 70's ran a cable up both sides to a cable that was on some hangers. At some point in probably 81 they went to the cable set up where the passenger side looped over the axle over to the driver side.

The point in all of this is you may have tochange the brak backing plates to use that style or change the cable set up to the old style to match the axle. Might be easier to do the cable swap.

thanks for the info, my rear cables are shot on the rears i am putting in so i need to change them anyway, i guess i will need a cable setup from a earlier burb then. my rear is from a 86 30 series pickup.

The cables changed in 84. Order a catalogue from www.lmctruck.com. You'll find plenty of parts for your burb.
