SPID question

Guys
As i strip my cab trying to get ready for paint, How do protect the SPID from getting either painted over or just scraped off

Or do I just remove it and get a new one made ( from board member) and up-to-date it with the extra options I have add to the truck so far?

Re: SPID question

If you are going to paint the truck the same color remove the original glove box door and put it back on when done. If changing paint color still remove original glove box door then get one from a wreck and paint it to match and order a new spid from outintheshop.com, board member Chipflyer, and put the new spid on the repainted glove box door and keep your original safely tucked away intact. I'm doing exactly this only I bought a chrome glove box door and am spraying the middle wrinkle black and leaving the chrome outer lip as it will match the gauge surround.

Re: SPID question

Save your original glove box door so you can prove what it was originally and paint another one to match . If you need one Im sure I can send you one .

This is timely as I was planning to ask to same question. Thanks for the new glove box door idea!

I always swap doors on trucks with SPIDs that I want to preserve when painting or chroming. I still have a few as momentos
