Missing cross sill?

Am i missing a cross sill in this 62 longbed fleetside? Looks like a big area right where a load should be...right on top of the axle. Also...anyone know the number of bolts to bolt the bed to the frame on this 62? Thanks

Mine doesn't have a piece above the axle either. Im not sure how many bolts there are from the factory, but I have four on mine.

Just seems like that would be a place for one and from some pictures I’ve seen, it looks like others have one there.

On a longbed, there will be 8 bolts attaching the bed to the frame. In the area above the differential. I don't think there is room for much of a cross sill. The thin one should be just forward of the rise over the differential I believe.

My '61 long stepper has two thin cross sills in the middle - one quite a bit ahead of the axle, and one almost above the axle.

STEP side, though.
