cab/engine/bulkhead wiring
Once I removed the old engine and install new, how and where am I supposed to provide power to the bulkhead/cab?
I was going to have constant power to pcm from distribution block next to battery and have the keyed power from the c10 fuse box. I just don't know what I'm missing to get power to the fuse box. 1971 Chevy c10 Donor - 2002 Chevy suburban 5.3 |
Re: cab/engine/bulkhead wiring
Are you using the original wiring or installing a new body harness?

Original wiring.

Re: cab/engine/bulkhead wiring
Did you remove any wiring? I don't remember what my stock wiring was like, but typically power comes from the battery, to the starter solenoid, then to some sort of disconnect which then feeds the fuse panel inside the truck.
Unless you or the previous owner removed something, that wiring should still be in place, except you'll have to reconnect on the LS starter solenoid. If you're trying to hook up your LS harness with the original wiring, you'll have to build or buy a prefabbed relay/fuse assembly to power the LS. |
Re: cab/engine/bulkhead wiring
I didn’t remove wiring. I have a relay/fuse box for the ls harness.
So you’re saying the wire that powers the cab is a wire that case off the starter? |
Re: cab/engine/bulkhead wiring
I believe that is correct, but I didn't look before tearing mine apart. My American Autowire harness is designed that way. Someone else with better knowledge of the stock wiring can chime in.

Thanks. That red wire was disconnected. I assumed it was just the amp meter but turns out all power goes through the meter and I had left it disconnected.
